weCreate®
weCreate® is a space, as well as a philosophy, that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and innovation, helping our students to pursue their individual passions.
The essence of weCreate is getting involved, trying something new, failing without becoming discouraged, and using that experience to approach the next iteration. The process of skill attainment begins in the Middle School years with a term-long weCreate class. During the 10th grade year, all students complete a series of assignments within the weCreate Center to both hone their skills and to provide an introduction to the self-management skills needed to thrive in the final years of the ScholarShift model in 11th and 12th grades.
Specific studios that have been introduced in the weCreate Center include:
- fashion design
- video creation and editing
- audio and music engineering
- graphic design
- Adobe Photoshop
- entrepreneurship
- coding
- architectural design
- 3D printing
Each studio is fully equipped with the requisite hardware and software to give students the experience of actually working in the designated field with all students eventually rotating through each of the studios for a set period of time.
Deep Dive & Dessert
The weCreate Center hosts a series of lectures and sessions, called "Deep Dive & Dessert," designed to allow students to get a closer, behind-the-scenes look at what goes into a profession, performance, or a piece of art, and to get into the nitty-gritty of their potential dreams. Many of the lectures include opportunities for modules and masterclasses, and of course, dessert.
